AATJ Annual Fall Conference

The 2017 American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) Annual Fall Conference took place November 17-19 at Music Center in Nashville, Tennessee, in conjunction with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Annual Convention and World Languages Expo.

The ACTFL Annual Convention featured over 800 educational sessions covering a wide spectrum of the language profession addressing the theme Experience It. The ACTFL Convention is an international event bringing together over 7,000 language educators from all languages, levels and assignments within the profession. The Japan Pavilion in the Expo (Exhibit) Hall featured entertainment, exhibits by publishers, travel agents, universities, and other companies and services related to our profession.

Submitting a Proposal for the 2018 Fall Conference

The 2018 Fall Conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana! To submit a proposal for the 2018 Fall Conference, go online to https://www.actfl.org/actfl2018/call-proposals and submit your proposal through the ACTFL submission website. Please note: If you indicate that your paper or panel is relevant to Japanese language, it will be reviewed by AATJ members as well as ACTFL members. If you label your paper or panel as relevant to "all languages," AATJ reviewers will not receive it, and it will be considered as a general ACTFL submission.

**Please note: This year ACTFL's sessions will be only 45 minutes long: individual papers are to be 10 minutes, with 5 minutes for Q & A.** The deadline for submitting proposals for the 2018 Fall Conference is JANUARY 12, 2018.
