Full-Time (Rank Open) Japanese Instructor

Kansai Gaidai University is seeking a full-time (rank open) instructor to teach all levels of Japanese Language for English speaking college students and one undergraduate course for native Japanese students. Responsibilities include 1) teaching 8 class sessions (12 hours) per week, 2) teaching Spoken Japanese as well as Reading & Writing Japanese classes, 3) teaching one undergraduate course related to teaching Japanese as a foreign language (TJFL), 4) supervising TJFL trainee teachers, 4) providing a few office hours per week. Qualifications: 1) M.A. or higher in a field related to teaching Japanese or linguistics (required by the end of the 2024 academic year), 2) College-level Japanese experience teaching to English speaking students from basic to advanced levels, 3) Native fluency in Japanese, 4) Excellent command of English (for advising international students and participating in meetings). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 2024 Japan Summer Internship: English Teaching Practicum

Program Overview During the summer of 2024, GHJ International will invite 25 – 30 college students (or college graduates) to Japan to participate in an English Teaching Practicum program, sponsored by the Munakata City (Fukuoka Prefecture) government and local board of education. Selected participants in the program will receive TEFL (Teaching of English as a Foreign Language) training and low-stress team-teaching experience in the public school system. They will also have an opportunity to learn and/or improve Japanese language skills with local university tutors and to stay one weekend with local Japanese host families. Interns will also have the option of earning a 100-Hour TEFL Certificate. Remote student internships with Kizuna Across Cultures

Kizuna Across Cultures is now accepting applications for our August 2024 - March 2025 internship to assist with our virtual language and culture exchange Global Classmates. University students who are passionate about international youth exchange, US-Japan relations, and Japanese language are a great fit for this unique internship. Interns work with KAC for 2 semesters (mid-August through early March), 10 hours per week remotely and 2 hours per week in virtual meetings. It is possible for interns to be located outside of DC and still fully participate in the internship. Interns act as Senpai (similar to a mentor) and engage directly online with the high school students from the US and Japan participating in our virtual language and culture exchange program Global Classmates, so bilingual English/Japanese is necessary. Students taking university 3rd or 4th year Japanese language courses have a sufficient language level to participate in the internship. We accept applications on a rolling basis and will accept them until all openings are filled.

Diplomatic Language Services, a US Government contractor based just outside of Washington, DC, is seeking experienced Japanese instructors for both online and in-person classes. Schedules vary from very part-time to full-time, and all students are adult learners. Basic curriculum is provided, though each class is tailored to the student(s).
