2018 Year of the Dog Nengajo Contest

Dog KanjiThe AATJ Nengajo Contest is a nationwide contest for students in elementary school, middle school, high school, and university. All participants receive a certificate of participation. Winners at each level in each category also receive certificates and prizes from AATJ.

The Nengajo Contest is an excellent advocacy and teaching opportunity for your program. Many students love artistic pursuits, and this is their chance to shine in your class. It also represents an excellent chance to practice language and culture.

2018 will be the Year of the Dog, and the Dog will be the subject of AATJ’s 2017/2018 Nengajo Contest.

There are four categories for entries: Artistic, Comical, Original, and Computer Graphic. Each teacher can nominate 2 cards per category, for a total of 8 students.

Detailed descriptions of the four categories can be found here.

The winners in each category will be awarded a certificate and an Amazon gift card. Their card images will be displayed on the AATJ website, and all participants will receive a certificate of participation.

You need to be a 2017 member of AATJ in order to nominate your students. If there is more than one AATJ member at your school, each member can nominate a total of 8 students (2 students per category.) Please check your membership status before submitting the cards. The submission must be postmarked on or before Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
