Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies

Willamette University, a nationally selective liberal-arts college, invites applications for a one-year (2018-19) renewable full-time position in Japanese Studies at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. 

All professors at Willamette are expected to teach non-majors as well as majors and to contribute to the College's General Education curriculum. Specific teaching responsibilities for this position include five to six courses over the course of the academic year: two or more Japanese language courses at any level, and no more than four courses related to the candidate's field of expertise or interest. We are open to specializations in any field in the humanities or social sciences.

The successful candidate will  have experience in teaching Japanese language and/or Japanese Studies courses at the college level in the US. The position requires native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English. Ph.D. strongly preferred, but ABD will be considered. Employment will be contingent on a successful criminal background check.
