Lecturer in Modern Japanese Language

The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations of the University of Chicago is accepting applications for a one-year (renewable) Lecturer appointment in modern Japanese language, with a preferred start date in calendar year 2018.

Responsibilities include teaching a minimum of six courses in a comprehensive program in Japanese-language studies at both beginning and advanced levels of the language. Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in Japanese and extensive language teaching experience at the college level. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching at the graduate level. An advanced degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in Linguistics or Language Education is required. A record of conference participation in the area of Japanese Language pedagogy is strongly preferred.
