This Special Interest Group focuses on the interests of translators and interpreters. Literary translation is a primary interest of many who work in the Japanese language field; but there is also interest in the work of translating other types of materials from and to Japanese as well as that of interpreting between Japanese and other languages (notably English in the case of most AATJ members).
