With support from the Japan-US Friendship Commission and contributions from dozens of corporations, organizations, and individuals (see list of donors) to the US-Japan Bridging Foundation, the Association of Teachers of Japanese and the US-Japan Bridging Foundation have since 1999 awarded more than 850 scholarships to undergraduate students at US colleges and universities for a year or semester of study abroad in Japan.

The students come from virtually every state in the US, and study at schools small and large, all over Japan. The maps below show the locations of the home institutions of the students who received Bridging Scholarships during the years 2007 and 2008, as well as the locations of the schools were they studied in Japan.

Information about the Bridging Scholarship program and downloadable application forms are available here.
