OCTOBER 2012 UPDATE FROM JNCL

The Joint National Committee for Languages (JNCL) is an organization, based in Washington, DC, that advocates and lobbies for foreign language education in the United States. AATJ is one of many national language organizations that are members of JNCL and receive regular updates and announcements on developments in language-related legislation and policy.

OCTOBER 2012 UPDATE FROM JNCL

Defense Secretary Panetta on the Importance of Foreign Languages: At the 2011 Foreign Language Summit held at the University of Maryland, then CIA Director (and now Secretary of Defense) Leon Panetta gave a keynote address in which he discussed the importance of language learning amd called for a new national commitment to foreign language education.
