Tomiko Takami

Tomoko Takami is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her full-time teaching in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations since 1996, she teaches Japanese for Professional Purposes at the Penn Language Center. Her research interests include Language for Specific Purposes, Language and Culture, and Assessment. She has given numerous presentations and several workshops and published papers on Business Language Instruction, Business Japanese Instruction, and Integration of Culture, Intercultural Competence, and Language Teaching. She is a certified AP Japanese Language and Culture Reader and an ACTFL OPI Tester in Japanese. She is founding coordinator of the Japanese for Specific Purposes Special Interest Group of the Association of Teachers of Japanese. She received her M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.
