 The 25th Conference of the Southeastern Association of Teachers of
 Japanese
 May 8-9, 2010
 Duke University, Durham, NC

 The 25th Annual Conference of the Southeastern Association of Teachers of Japanese (SEATJ) will be held at Duke University, North Carolina on May 8th and 9th, 2010.

This year Professor Mayumi Oka from the University of Michigan, one of the authors of Tobira, Gateway to Advanced Japanese, will give the keynote lecture on “New Approaches to Intermediate Japanese Classes Using Tobira”. The conference aims to encourage research and innovations in teaching, help Japanese teachers to keep abreast of the recent developments and current trends in the field of language teaching, and facilitate professional communications among participants.

SEATJ invites proposals for 20-minute presentations on Japanese language pedagogy, Japanese linguistics, Japanese culture, Japanese literature, instructional technology, and teaching innovations. Please email your proposals to by January 31, 2010.


Please include the following information:

1. Name, affiliation, position, and contact information of the presenter

2. Title of the presentation in English or Japanese

3. Abstract (approximately 500 words in English or 700 characters in Japanese)

4. Request for equipment



Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by February 28, 2010. Papers will be published on the conference website by August 31, 2010.
